I'm not a chef, not a professional food person by any means.. I just enjoy food experiences and I plan to try my hand at writing about my experiences and sharing them here @ the House of Jaye-9... Hibiscus Caribbean Bar and Grill
It's Friday night and I'm reminiscing about my latest visit to Hibiscus Caribbean Bar and Grill. Not only one of my favorite places to BE for live music, but also one of my favorite places for good food! A little slice of heaven, Hibiscus is a small venue on Brookside with a Neo Soul vibe. The perfect setting to sit back and enjoy the sounds of Travis Fite and Charlie Redd... and oh yeah, have a nibble or two.
Ten... Fabulous... Wings, coated in spicy Hibiscus sauce. Let me tell you, you haven't tasted anything like it! The spice blend packs a punch -- it'll clear your sinuses a little -- that's a sign of a really good and tasty set of wings if you ask me! Juicy yet crispy, you don't want to order Ocho wings on a first date! They require a certain finesse to avoid having spicy Hibiscus sauce all over your hands, but you can master it -- it's WORTH it!
After the wings, you just HAVE to finish this experience with Hibiscus' Rum Cake!
Mmmm... so good, and don't mind that lovely glass of Riesling... that squares off the plate just nice!
Check out the Hibiscus Caribbean Bar and Grill down on Brookside: 3316 S. Peoria Ave in Tulsa. And don't forget you can see Branjae and the Allstars there from time to time too. You just can't beat good food and good music!

Brady Tavern Review
A quick gander at the Brady Tavern friends... (Formerly known, as The Bowery)
Well, I recommend you start with the Deviled Egg Trifecta.
That's right a TRIFECTA of deviled egg "divine-ness" that includes a Wasabi Deviled Egg, a Traditional Deviled Egg and a third entry that I honestly can't recall the name of.. but IT WAS GOOD! I mean, look at that picture... YES! That is BACON! Mmmm!
Follow the Trifecta with the Smoked Chicken Salad... that's the wonderful salad on the right: Mixed Greens, Tender Chicken, Avocado, Mango and something called Mustard Emulsion (it was good!) The chicken was so tender and seemed lightly flavored. The selection was light yet filling, not too lightly seasoned either, but pulled together just right and in a perfect portion to be shared or enjoyed by one.
But for me, the headliner was, of course, The Tavern Burger. Featured in Tulsa People Magazine, The Tavern Burger is a unique experience that will broaden your palette and leave you craving it again... it doesn't haunt you, it begs you... there's a difference.
Paired with duck-fat-fried, seasoned french fries, The Tavern Burger isn't your everyday ground beef smashed burger... it's burger savvy, almost jazzy and plain euphoria on a bun. Why do the standard ground beef grind when you can mix quality meats (a secret blend) and top it off with Stilton (cheese people, cheese) and a Mushroom Cognac Cream? In the company of such flavors you can't wrap that masterpiece with any old regular hamburger bun -- no, no, you present it on a Challah Bun... and there you have it -- Burger Masterpiece like no other!
Finish the experience with the Lemon Cream Chantilly- Lemon Tart dessert.
Since I have so many memories of The Bowery, it was with mixed emotions that I visited The Brady Tavern. Walking in, it was unmistakably different from the Bowery as I knew it..
There, where there was once a stage graced by Charlie Redd and The Full Flava Kings, is now a group of tables begging for your presence, enticing you to grab a seat, take it all in and order something divine from the menu...

I look forward to enjoying the Brady Tavern again in the near future. And by the way, the service was just as memorable.

Edoko Sushi - Frisco, TX
It's only fitting that one of my first official experience posts would be about an enormously amazing sushi spot. There are several right here in my homegrown city of Tulsa and I'm looking forward to giving them their due credit, but first... feast your eyes on Edoko Sushi & Robata in Frisco, TX. Tucked away in Frisco, you can find Edoko @ 4390 HWY 121 in a lush modern atmosphere that pales in comparison to Edoko's creative, mind-blowing sushi creations.
On my visit to Edoko I just had to have the Mushroom Salad with roasted mushrooms, pickled onions and balsamic soy reduction... might sound a little interesting to you, but trust me, it will render you speechless with mushroom joy!
The presentation is amazing and includes Edoku’s exclusive blend of sauces that set the dish off once the tower is smashed, blended and shaped into a heart (my request :-) before being devoured...
Mmmm... so good!! Can't wait to take myself back to Edoko! Hope you'll take a trip to Frisco and check them out!! It.. is... amazing... sushi!
